Frequently Asked Questions
How Does It Work?
- Create your list of friends by clicking the + sign at the top right to add a friend. You can also delete friends by swiping over them or clicking the edit button on the top left.
- Once you have your friends entered into the application, you need to select which of those friends will be joining the group to go out to lunch, out drinking, etc.
- Shake your iPhone (or click the bottom of the screen) to randomize your list of friends and choose a driver(s).
What is “Occupancy”
Vehicle Occupancy is a number representing how many people that this particular person can take in their car. There may be times when you need to change or update the vehicle occupancy (for example, if John drove his sedan (4 seater) yesterday and drives his Ferrari (2 seater) today). In that case you can click the arrow icon to the right of the person’s name to edit the occupancy.
Why does it sometimes allocate more cars than necessary?
Occasionally the results will show more cars than physically necessary. For example, if 4 people were traveling, the results may show that two cars with two seats were chosen to drive instead of a single 4 seater car. This is because the results are purely random and everyone has an equal chance of driving regardless of the number of seats in their car. I debated over this for a while and chose to implement the complete randomness to eliminate the unfair advantage of people with smaller vehicles. If you’re not happy with the results you can always re-shake it to select new drivers.
In the next version I plan on having this optional so you can choose between optimizing vehicles or randomizing drivers.
